A/C Installation - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When Do I Need a New AC System?

A:

If your old AC unit has stopped working entirely or expensive repair jobs are getting more frequent, it’s definitely time for a new air conditioning system. A/C systems on average last about 20 years, but even if your old one seems to work okay, it might still be time to consider replacement with a more efficient unit to save money over the long run.

Q: What Does the SEER Rating Mean?

A:

A SEER rating, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, measures how efficiently an air conditioner or heat pump cools your home over an entire cooling season. A higher SEER number means greater energy efficiency and lower monthly utility bills.

Newer equipment is listed under updated SEER2 guidelines with stricter testing. SEER2 uses a more realistic testing method that increases external static air pressure to mimic real-world ductwork conditions. Units rated under SEER2 show slightly lower numerical scores than old SEER ratings, but the equipment is just as efficient.

What is a Good Rating?
• Standard Efficiency: Most basic modern systems start around 14 SEER / SEER2.
• High Efficiency: Units rated 16 to 20+ offer significantly better energy savings and enhanced humidity control

Q: Should I Get a New AC System or Heat Pump?

A:

Heat pumps provide both heating and cooling in one system with higher efficiently. On most days a heat pump will heat your home very efficiently but the colder it gets outside the less heat output it has and performance drops. Thats why it's best to use a hybrid system here in Colorado and keep your furnace so on really cold nights or days your heat pump can let the furnace take over and do the heavy lifting. It increases your furnaces life expectancy by a decade from 20 to 30 years or more because it will run up to 75% less. It also gives you a second source of heat in case something goes wrong, for instance, if your furnace ignitor went bad, then at least you have some source of heat until you get it fixed.

A heat pump typically costs more upfront than a central AC system does, but with the Xcel rebates and the average household energy savings being around $350 per year, it makes up for it quickly. We install air-source and cold climate systems from Innovair.

Q: Can I Add Central Air Conditioning to My House?

A:

Yes we can install a new central A/C into most homes. There are a few things we need to check over first including your electrical panel, best unit location, refrigeration lines path, and your duct system. Central air conditioning is far superior to other methods of whole house cooling and will save you money in the long term while bringing you comfort during the hot months.

Q: How Long Does the AC Installation Take?

A:

Most furnace and AC replacements take 4 to 6 hours to complete. Heat pumps do usually take longer and run 6 to 8 hours on average. We can usually get installs scheduled and completed within 48 hours of the first call and we prioritize anyone with no heat in the winter and no cooling in the summer so we can usually do the next day.

Q: What air conditioning Brands Do You Install?

A:

We're authorized dealers and installers of Goodman, American Standard, Innovair, and Amana. All brands we sell come with a 10 parts warranty from the manufacturer and our labor warranty on the units varies depending on which system you buy.

Q: Do You Offer Any Discounts?

A:

Yes. We give a $100 discount on any new furnace or AC purchase to public school teachers, fire fighters, EMR team members, nurses, police officers, senior citizens, and all military. Subtract that from our already low prices and it makes our deals even a little sweeter. (limit 2 per household)

Q: Where do I go to register the warranty on my new HVAC system?

Q: Do You Install AC Systems for Mobile Homes ?

A:

No, we do not work on mobile homes.

Q: How Often Should I Replace My Furnace Air Filter?

A:

Even in the summer your furnace air filter still gets dirty, the air is being circulated through the air filter by the furnace blower when your ac system is turned on. We recommend you change it every 3 months. The cleaner the filter, the better the airflow, which keeps utility bills lower and the system running efficiently.

Q: What Forms Of Payment Do You Take?

A:

We will take any credit or debit card and green cash or a cashiers check but we DO NOT take personal Checks, Bitcoin, or Paypal!
